The Oberlin Club of Cleveland invites you and your family to a Summer Picnic at Wildwood Park, part of the Cleveland Lakefront State Parks! Sponsored by the Oberlin Alumni Association and the local Alumni Club, the Summer Picnics are an Oberlin tradition where incoming students and their parents meet other students, parents and alumni in an informal setting over the summer.

Villa Angela Drive, off of Lakeshore Blvd.
Cleveland, OH 44110
Please join alumni, parents, current and incoming students for a fun-filled casual picnic before the start of the school year. Bring your family, friends, Oberlin memorabilia, pictures, summer games and pot luck treat and drink to share!
If your last name begins with, please bring the following, in addition to a drink to share:
A-H: Appetizer or side dish
I-P: Main dish
Q-Z: Dessert
We have the pavilion at Wildwood Park reserved for the picnic. There is some parking near the pavilion with additional parking close by. Electrical outlets are available at the pavilion. Should you wish to grill, a grill with charcoal and grill tools will be available. Utensils, paper products and a cooler of ice will also be provided, to keep beverages cool. Please note that no alcoholic beverages are permitted within the park.
A playground is located approximately 300 ft. from the pavilion, and there is a large grassy area to one side of the pavilion, with room for various games. A concession building and restrooms are also located on site.

From I-90 W/OH-2 W, take exit 182A toward E185th St. Merge onto N Lakeland Blvd, continuing onto Villaview Rd. Make a right turn onto Neff Road, turn left onto Lakeshore Blvd, and turn right into Villa Angela/Wildwood Parks.
From the West Side
From I-90E, take exit 179 for OH-283 E/Lakeshore Boulevard. Merge onto OH-283 E/Lakeshore Boulevard. Continue to follow OH-283/Lakeshore Boulevard. Turn left into Villa Angela Drive/Wildwood Parks

Looking ahead
Because of Commencement/Reunion Weekend at the end of the month, and Cleveland’s proximity to Oberlin, there is no official event in May for the club. (If you haven’t yet done so, register today for CRW by visiting http://new.oberlin.edu/office/alumni) I do have some information on upcoming events for over the summer, however.
Alumni at the Ballpark
Join fellow Cleveland area Obies for the Second Annual Alumni Day at Progressive Field on June 17, 2011 at 7:05 as the Cleveland Indians battle the Pittsburgh Pirates! It’s Dollar Dog Night, so enjoy great food, fun and baseball with Oberlin Alumni, Friends and Family and stick around for fireworks after the game!
Look for more information to come, regarding the pre-game gathering and ticket information.

Our annual summer picnic for alumni, current students and entering first-years is just around the corner. I’m looking for suggestions on good places to hold the picnic, preferably within Cleveland. Do you know of a great park, where we can reserve a shelter? The ability to grill and plug in appliances would be an added bonus. Please e-mail me your suggestions at kmcgirr@gmail.com. If you have contact information for the park, that would be very helpful. Thank you!
