Volunteers must be 18 or accompanied by an adult.
The George Jones Farm and Nature Preserve is a 70 acre farmstead owned by Oberlin College and operated by the New Agrarian Center (NAC) as a cooperative farm incubator and educational center. Volunteers will need to wear clothes that they don't mind getting dirty. Since you will be working outside jeans or pants are recommended. Also all volunteers should wear close toed shoes or boots (no flip flops, crocs, etc.). If you have a favorite gardening tool that you would like to bring that is okay. Please make sure to label tools so that at the end of the day everything goes back to the right person. We encourage volunteers to bring their own work gloves.
We will be joined again by current Oberlin students from Immerse Yourself in Service, an Oberlin College Student Organization dedicated to community service.
Following the outdoor activities, there will be a potluck at the Strawbale building at the farm. For the potluck, alumni are requested to bring appetizers or desserts, in addition to drinks. More information coming soon regarding plates, cups and napkins!
As I am unable to join in on this fabulous event, I have a request: I am in need of someone to simply help sign-in alumni, so the Alumni Office knows who all was present. If you think you can help out, please let me know by e-mailing me at kmcgirr@gmail.com, and I'll put you in touch with the appropriate people!
Since this is an outdoor project if there is severe or inclement weather the project would have to be either canceled or rescheduled.
Please register online or by calling the Alumni Office at 440.775.8692
