Artist Recital Series

All events take place at Finney Chapel. Tickets are available for advance purchase by visiting www.oberlin.edu/arseries or calling 800-371-0178. Tickets are also available at the door, starting one hour before the performance; however, tickets purchased at the door cost $3 more.

The Cleveland Orchestra

Under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst, the Cleveland Orchestra returns for an encore Artist Recital Series 2010-11 season performance with an offering of Anton Bruckner's monumental 7th symphony.

Hailed by Time magazine for its unrivaled combination of “virtuosic technique, consummate ensemble playing and rich, burnished tone,” this will be a demonstration-type concert in which maestro Welser-Möst will address the audience and showcase various instruments within the orchestra.

James Ehnes, violin

At age 11, Canadian violinist James Ehnes gained national recognition as the Grand Prize winner in Strings at the Canadian Music Competition; since then, he has hardly stopped performing. His quietly confident technique and complex musical interpretations have taken him to four continents, playing with dozens of the top ensembles, conductors, and musicians in the world, and his recordings span from Bach to Paganini to John Adams. At Oberlin, he'll be performing on his 1715 Stradivarius.
